Guiding Star Orange City Promotes Kaleigh Van Middendorp to Executive Director

Guiding Star Orange City, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing wholistic women-centric healthcare, is pleased to announce the selection of Kaleigh Van Middendorp as its new executive director. Kaleigh follows Guiding Star’s  founding Executive Director, Kari Beadner, who stepped down last December.  The Guiding Star board of directors selected Kaleigh after prayer and thoughtful consideration of her dedication to the mission and expansive vision for the organization.

Under Mrs. Van Middendorp’s leadership, Guiding Star Orange City will continue to build on its core pillars of natural fertility care and family planning, pregnancy and childbirth, breastfeeding and postpartum, and family life services. Mrs. Van Middendorp will work to strengthen core services while developing new relationships and furthering existing relationships with partners and supporters.

“I know I speak for all of the Board  when I say that we are so excited to have Kaleigh as the new executive director of Guiding Star Orange City! She brings a wonderful combination of energy, compassion, vision, and dedication. In her role as Client Resource Coordinator at Guiding Star this last year, she has developed excellent relationships with clients, staff, and volunteers. We are impressed with her desire to build community partnerships so that more women and families can be reached with the services of Guiding Star. We know that Kaleigh will continue to promote the programs, education, and other opportunities offered and will also work with our partners and donors to help expand Guiding Star’s programs and services.” Kelli Norton, Board Member

“As a proud resident of Sioux County, I have been privileged to witness the impact of the generosity of good people giving back to the community. Together, we are stronger, and it is in this spirit that I begin my new role as executive director of Guiding Star.  I am excited to work with the board and staff to help the organization serve significantly more women and families in the years ahead,” says Van Middendorp.  “Guiding Star Orange City will continue to be at the forefront of wholistic, women-centric healthcare.”

The vision of Guiding Star Orange City is to empower women to understand, embrace, and love their natural bodies. The organization was established in 2016,  and serves all women: preteens, women with planned or unplanned pregnancies, women needing breastfeeding or postpartum support, women struggling through infertility, and women throughout each stage of their journey. In the past year, Guiding Star served over 1,200 visitors, and counseled five women who experienced unexpected pregnancies. The Pregnancy Resource Clinic opened in June of 2019 and has provided 29 pregnancy tests and 57 ultrasounds. Our in-house service partner, Ashwood FertilityCare Center, provided 292 follow-ups, and 26 girls, aged 9-13, were able to attend the Guiding Star Cycle Show. Over 4,000 ounces of breast milk was shared in our milk sharing program and 30 breast pumps were distributed. The Attic clothing donation center benefited the community by providing women and families with clothes for children and maternity. We had 196 women and couples attend our classes, events, and support groups.

Kaleigh Van Middendorp begins her role as Executive Director on June 1, 2020.
