Shining Light Speech Therapy

Sara received her BA in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2014 and her MA in Speech-Language Pathology in 2016 from the University of South Dakota. She began her speech therapy career at Prairie Lakes AEA following graduation. Her caseload consisted of children birth to 3 and preschool age. In 2018, she began working for Northwest AEA and worked with students K-12. She has experience working with a variety of speech and language disorders through her time with the AEA.

Sara began Shining Light Speech Therapy, PLLC in 2023 in order to provide family oriented services that address the unique needs of each child and family. She believes in using a natural language acquisition (NLA) approach to therapy, in which therapy is child-led and play-based rather than compliance-based. Therapy is focused on building connection and trust so that your child develops speech and language that is meaningful to him.

Sara is married to Travis Westhoff, and they have 3 children age 4 and under.
